Getting Maui’d. Tips for a Stress Free Maui Wedding

There are a myriad of planners and coordinators in Maui offering both package and custom wedding services, and most of the island officiants require an onsite coordinator be present on the big day. Working with a local expert in some capacity will also help streamline the planning process as he or she can recommend and liaise with suppliers and help secure licences. We have nothing but positive things to say about the suppliers we chose for our Maui wedding.  Hopefully our recommendations below will help you plan your perfect Maui wedding!

Anna is a simply amazing Maui wedding photographer.  Although we weren’t able to meet her prior to our wedding day she instantly calmed our nerves, which resulted in phenomenal photos.  We booked her two-hour package, which included a second photographer and a cd with all the images.  Anna also offers full-day packages if you want her to capture every moment of your wedding.  She was so great, super laid back and we loved all of our photos.  Our plan is to have her take family pictures when we return their in October with our new baby girl!  Can’t recommend her enough.

Wedding Coordinator & Officiant: www.4mauiweddings.com

Laurie and Reverend Al are a husband and wife team who offer wedding packages in Maui.  We were so pleased to have Reverend Al officiate our wedding – his service perfectly blended our personal vows with a warm Hawaiian-style ceremony.  Laurie went over and above for us, even accepting a couple of deliveries for us that she stored at her home until we arrived.  Although we planned the various elements of our wedding (selected the photographer, venue, hair & make-up, etc.) Laurie and Al provided welcome advice and will happily provide custom wedding services if you prefer.

Super Chic Floral Design: www.dellables.com

We hunted online for unique floral arrangements and were thrilled to find Dellables.   Della Peacock, owner and master florist, has a selection of beautiful floral packages and can create custom designs that capture the vision of any bride’s dream wedding.  My bouquet was stunning, as were our centrepieces – it broke my heart that we couldn’t bring them home to enjoy them (we were off to Lana’i the next day so had to leave them for the staff at Gannons).

Hair & Make-up: www.dansanchezsalon.com / www.makeupmaui.com

My biggest fear was looking like a prom queen on our wedding day.  Thankfully our lovely photographer Anna Kim recommended Dan Sanchez (hair) and Jessica Waite (make-up) for my wedding day glam team.  I booked a consultation with Dan at his salon and then had both Dan and Jessica come to my hotel room for the big day.  Talented and highly entertaining, I felt immediately at ease with this dynamic duo and the result was exactly as I envisioned.  I plan to book a make-up lesson with Jessica next time I’m in Maui!

Shuttle Service Guests: www.akinatours.com

We organized a shuttle to pick everyone up from their hotels to bring them to the beach where we got married and then to Gannon’s where we had our reception.  They were great – and all of our guests were on time!

Gannons Restaurant: www.gannonsrestaurant.com

We loved the food and atmosphere of Gannons at the Wailea Golf Club.  Our menu featured crab cakes (2 huge ones) for the starter and a duo of Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Catch with Mango Ginger Beurre Blanc and Sirloin of Beef served with Shiitake Mushroom Ragout, Mashed Potatoes and Island Vegetable for the main course.   The portions were so large that only two of our guests managed to power through and finish both courses.
